Moore earns Second Team All-America honors at NCAA Indoor National Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Indiana State sprinter JaVaughn Moore picked up Second Team All-America honors Friday night at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, capping a strong indoor season for the Sycamores.

Moore, the MVC record holder in the 60m dash, ran a preliminary time in the event of 6.59. It was the second-best 60m time of his career, behind only the 6.56 he ran in the finals of the MVC Indoor Championships, which qualified him for the national championships. Moore was one-hundredth of a second away from advancing to the finals.

Moore's All-America honor caps off an indoor season which saw him win a fourth straight 60m conference title while setting the conference record in the event in the process. He was also named MVC Most Outstanding Track Athlete this season for having the highest-ranked mark on the NCAA Performance List of anyone in the conference. Moore's 60m qualifying time was tied for seventh nationally. Each of Moore's last seven 60m times of the season were under 6.7 seconds.

Moore became the first Sycamore to compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships since Erin Reese in 2019 (weight throw) and the first Indiana State men's track and field athlete to compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships since Adarius Washington in 2015 (60m hurdles) with Friday's finish.
