Moore resets 60m record, Sycamores post stellar showing at Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – JaVaughn Moore broke his own 60m school record Saturday, leading Indiana State in a strong showing for the Sycamores at the Music City Challenge.
 
Moore, who ran a sub-6.7 time in the prelims, semifinals and finals, clocked a time of 6.62 to reset the program record. As a team, Indiana State set seven top-10 program marks Saturday, giving the Sycamores nine for the meet.
 
Also recording top-10 marks in program history on the second day in the Music City were Erica Barker (3000m), Brooklyn Giertz (pole vault), Tahj Johnson (400m) Jackson Krieg (3000m), Noah Malone (60m) and Wyatt Wyman (800m), in addition to Moore's top mark.

Sprints/Hurdles
A day after nearly breaking the 200m school record, JaVaughn Moore set the school record once again in the 60m. Clocking sub-6.7 times in all three rounds, Moore used a time of 6.62 in the finals to win the event and set the record. He wasn't the only Sycamore to post a top-10 program mark in the event, though. Noah Malone ran a time of 6.75 in the semifinals, putting him in a tie for fourth in program history.
 
Also joining that duo in setting a top sprints mark was Tahj Johnson, who ran a career-best 400m time of 47.76 to move into third in program history. Cameron Stevens also ran a career-best time in the event, crossing the line in 48.38, while Trent Jones ran a season-best 48.75.
 
In the women's 60m, Collette Wolfe ran her two best times of the season by posting times of 7.65 in the prelims and 7.67 in the semifinals. Wolfe also had the top 60m hurdles time for the Sycamore women at 8.81. Iyanla Hunter ran her best 400m time of the season at 56.84, with Alysha Bradford also clocking a season-best time at 57.75.
 
Indiana State also got contributions from its hurdlers, with Daryl Black running his best time since the season opener. Black ran a time of 8.28 to finish in the top 15 of the event.
 
Both of Indiana State's 4x400m relay teams put together solid showings Saturday. Bradford, Maria Biskopstoe, Sierra Long and Hunter ran a season-best time of 3:53.37 on the women's side, while the team of Jones, Wyatt Wyman, Johnson and Stevens ran a time of 3:13.95 on the men's side.
 
Distance
Indiana State had a trio of noteworthy marks from the distance crew on the final day of the meet, with Wyatt Wyman, Jackson Krieg and Erica Barker notching notable accomplishments.
 
Wyman won the 800m with a career-best time of 1:49.61, becoming the first Sycamore since 2004 to run a sub-1:50 indoor 800m. His time ranked second in program history in the event. Napoleon Hernandez (1:52.43) and Jocqael Thorpe (1:53.72) both recorded the best indoor times of their career in the event. Indiana State also got a season-best time in the event on the women's side from Maria Biskopstoe, who creossed the line in 2:15.32.
 
 
Krieg moved into the top 10 in program history in the 3000m, with his time of 8:17.69 ranking 10th all-time. Jason Dworak narrowly missed out on a top-10 program mark with a career-best time of 8:18.64. Barker recorded a top-10 program mark for the second consecutive weekend, with her 3000m time of 9:53.95 ranking ninth in program history.
 
Jumps/Pole Vault
Brooklyn Giertz had the headline result for the Trees on Saturday. Giertz cleared a career-best 3.97m (13-01.25) in the pole vault to place first and move up to a tie for seventh in program history. Selene Weaver cleared 3.92m (12-10.25) to earn a top-10 finish in the invite section.
 
Ryann Porter's strong season in the triple jump continued, as she placed second with a top mark of 12.54m (42-09.75). Brittney Walker placed 13th in the event, with her top jump coming in at 12.00m (39-04.50). In the men's triple jump, Emmanuel Odubanjo earned a top-10 finish, placing ninth with a top jump of 14.11m (46-03.50).
 
Throws
Noah Bolt and Wyatt Puff led the way for the Blue and White in the men's shot put, with Bolt setting a personal record of 16.76m (55-00.00) to place in the top 10. Puff had a top throw of 16.73m (54-10.75) to finish 11th.
 
In the women's shot put, Hannah Redlin tied her personal best of 14.85m (48-08.75), which ranks 10th in program history, to finish eighth in the event. Niesha Anderson had a season-best mark of 14.50m (47-07.00) and placed 10th.
