TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State won 15 of the 16 events on Friday night at the Vigo County Aquatic Center as the Sycamores topped visiting Southern Indiana (250-50), Evansville (241-49), and UIC (232-68) to sweep the quad meet.
The Sycamores won every event with the exception of the 3M dive and had multiple athletes in the top five across the board in their 2023 regular season home opener at the Aquatic Center.
Chloe Farro swept the 50- and the 100-yard Freestyle events, while
Claire Parsons won the 500- and 1000-yard Freestyle and Ali Pearson took the 100- and 200-yard Breaststroke events to highlight the Sycamores on the evening.

Indiana State put five teams in the top 10 in the opening 200-yard Medley Relay as Cotter,
Kaimi Matsumoto, Kelley, and
Alexa Szadorski topped the field in 1:45.25. Agapios, Pearson,
Raine Boles, and Farro finished second in 1:45.52, while the team of Reeves, Heagy,
Raz Harel, and Ash Saple were fifth overall in 1:49.13.
Trista Bullock,
Dorotea Bukvic, Becca Shaffer, and
Jordan Gruce finished sixth in 1:49.15, while the final quartet of Olivia DiRuzza,
Makayla Sura, Halsall, and
Erin Cummins finished ninth in 1:51.91.
Claire Parsons continues to make the 1000-yard Freestyle her own as the freshman finished the event tops in the field in 10:20.58.
Rose Parsons finished third in 10:33.48, while
Esther Rydbeck Norden finished fourth overall in 10:41.20.
Heagy and
Claire Parsons went 1-2 in the 200-yard Freestyle as the Sycamore duo finished in 1:53.64 and 1:54.06 respectively. Cummins was fourth in 1:54.39, while Gruce finished seventh in 1:56.29. Bullock (1:59.55) and Kam Nowak (1:59.94) rounded out the Sycamores in the field.
Three Sycamores finished in the top three in the 100-yard Backstroke as Reeves (58.12), DiRuzza (58.36), and Agapios (58.44) paced the field. Barasch was sixth overall in 59.70.
Pearson took home her first win of the evening in the 100-yard Breaststroke touching the wall in 1:04.46. Matsumoto finished third in 1:05.72, while Szadorski was fourth in 1:06.80. Bukvic added a top-10 finish after touching the wall in 1:09.02.
Indiana State took the top four positions in the 200-yard Fly with Halsall taking the win in 2:05.93. Cotter was second in 2:08.43, while Boles (2:08.76) and Harel (2:10.04) rounded out the Sycamores in the top positions. Shaffer also took on the field finishing in 2:14.13.
Farro and Kelley finished 1-2 in the 50-yard Freestyle paced by Farro's 23.65. Kelley was second in 24.03, while Saple finished sixth in 25.20.
Smith finished third overall in the 3M diving event to lead the Sycamores in the field in 241.20, while
Bailey Betzer was fifth in 232.55.
Daniela Orta Castaneda finished sixth in 217.70, while
Sierra Bowman (191.60) and
Brenna Woodruff (134.70) finished 10th and 12th respectively.
Four Sycamores finished tops in the field in the 100-yard Freestyle led by Farro's 51.03. Szadorski finished second in 53.07, while Heagy (53.16) and Barasch (53.18) were third and fourth overall.
Jordan Gruce added a top finish touching the wall in 54.36.
Agapios, DiRuzza, and Reeves were the top three finishers in the 200-yard Backstroke paced by Agapios' 2:03.85. DiRuzza was second in 2:05.15, while Reeves touched in 2:05.37 to finish third overall. Bullock added a top-10 finish in 2:14.34.
Pearson and Bukvic finished first and second in the field in the 200-yard Breaststroke to lead the Sycamores. Pearson took her second event touching the wall in 2:19.71, while Bukvic was second in 2:22.20. Matsumoto finished fourth in 2:24.38, while Sura was ninth in the field in 2:36.23.
Claire Parsons recorded her second win of the evening in the 500-yard Freestyle finishing in 5:05.23. Halsall was fourth in 5:09.52, while Cummins finished fifth in 5:09.91.
Rose Parsons narrowly missed a top-five finish after touching the wall in 5:10.78, while Nowak took on the field finishing in 5:22.59.
Kelley was the first Sycamore to the wall in the 100-yard Fly to top the field in 56.86. Harel finished third in 57.75, while Barasch was seventh in 58.61. Boles finished eighth overall in 59.13 for the top-10 finish, while Shaffer touched the wall in 1:01.39.
Smith took the title in the 1M diving event with a score of 259.50 to top Betzer (248.60). Orta Castaneda was eighth overall in 199.85, while Bowman (190.80) and Woodruff (124.45) finished 10th and 13th in the field.
Cotter, Bukvic, and Szadorski went 1-2-3 in the 400-yard IM, while Rydbeck Norden was fifth overall in the event. Cotter topped the field in 4:27.27, while Bukvic was second in 4:31.97. Szadorski was third in 4:33.16 with Rydbeck Norden touching fifth in 4:43.63.
The Sycamores wrapped up the evening taking three of the top five spots in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. Heagy, Matsumoto, Barasch, and Farro topped the field in 3:29.11, while
Claire Parsons, Pearson, Kelley, and Agapios finished second in 3:33.37. Cummins, Gruce, Boles, and Saple were fifth in 3:39.21, while Reeves, DiRuzza,
Rose Parsons, and Harel finished sixth in 3:40.13. The final team of Halsall, Nowak, Rydbeck Norden, and Bullock were ninth in 3:44.22.
