LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Indiana State thrower
Brett Norton earned a podium finish for the second straight day Saturday while also entering the top-three in program history in the shot put at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.
Norton moved all the way up to third in program history with his second-place finish in the shot put, while his top mark of 18.27m (59-11.25) was the best by a Sycamore since 2014. Indiana State's men's 4x400m relay team of
Trent Jones,
Wyatt Wyman,
Tahj Johnson and
Cameron Stevens also put on a show with the fastest indoor 4x400m time by a Sycamore relay team since 2014 in Saturday's finale.
Along with Norton,
Kevin Krutsch (high jump),
Ryann Porter (triple jump),
William Staggs (pole vault) and
Wyatt Wyman (800m) all earned top-five finishes on the final day of competition.

Friday's Top-Five Finishes
Sprints/Hurdles
Indiana State's 4x400m quartet of
Trent Jones,
Wyatt Wyman,
Tahj Johnson and
Cameron Stevens stole the show in the final event of the competition, as the four Sycamores teamed up to post Indiana State's fastest 4x400m time in nearly a decade. The time of 3:13.99 was good enough to finish sixth and was the best time by a Sycamore 4x4 team since 2014. Johnson and Stevens also earned top-10 finishes earlier in the day in the 400m, with Johnson (48.55) placing seventh and Stevens (48.73) finishing ninth.
JaVaughn Moore also earned his second top-10 finish in as many days with a time of 21.56 in the 200m to place seventh.
Daunte Majors also ran a season-best time of 22.21 in the event, while
Nyla Jones' time of 25.16 on the women's side was the second-fastest by a Sycamore this season.
Iyanla Hunter had the top 400m time among Indiana State's women's competitors at 57.55.
Distance
Indiana State had a personal record set in nearly every distance event contested on Saturday.
Wyatt Wyman's third-place finish in the 800m at 1:50.44, which broke the previous facility record, was the highlight of the bunch. The Trees also got personal bests on the men's side from
Cael Light (4:12.33),
Jackson Krieg (4:12.49) and
Jason Dworak (4:12.72) in the mile, and
Logan Pietrzak (8:22.96) in the 3000m.
On the women's side,
Erica Barker had the most notable PR from the distance crew, breaking the 10-minute mark in the 3000m run for the first time in her career at 9:58.41 to earn a top-10 finish at the meet.
Sara Skaff improved on her previous top 3000m time by eight seconds with a time of 10:31.95, while
Cassidy Bagby also set a personal record in the mile at 5:13.58.
Maria Biskopstoe ran a time of 2:19.02 in the 800m as the only Sycamore competitor in the event.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Indiana State had a trio of top-five finishes Saturday from the jumps and pole vault group, as
Kevin Krutsch,
Ryann Porter and
William Staggs both finished among the best in their respective events. Porter continued to showcase her talent as one of the top triple jumpers in the region with a top mark of 12.40m (40-08.25) to place fourth. Staggs cleared five meters for a fourth straight meet in the pole vault, finishing fifth after clearing 5.08m (16-08.00).
Krutsch cleared 2.10m (6-10.75) in the high jump for his second-best mark at a meet this season, earning himself a fifth-place finish in the event.
Trevor Thompson cleared 2.05m (6-08.75) and narrowly missed out on the top 10 via tiebreakers. On the women's side,
Kelsey Bowlds and
Eva Grace Quinlan both cleared 1.65m (5-05.00) to finish in a tie for 14th.
Throws
Brett Norton had a meet to remember, with Saturday's performance in the shot put capping a memorable performance for the Sycamore thrower. A day after earning a top-three finish in the weight throw, Norton recorded a top mark of 18.27m (59-11.25) in the shot put to place second in the meet. Norton's mark also moved him up to third in program history in the event, and was the best mark by a Sycamore since 2014.
Noah Bolt placed 15th in the event with a top mark of 16.05m (52-08.00).
Niesha Anderson also had a strong meet on the women's side, as the freshman set a personal best in the shot put Saturday with a top mark of 14.08m (46-02.50). Anderson earned top-15 finishes in both the shot put and weight throw at the meet.
Hannah Redlin narrowly missed out on the top 15 in the shot put with a mark of 13.75m (45-01.50).

Indiana State will have a split squad next weekend, as the Sycamores will send a contingent to the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame (Feb. 3-4) while also playing host to the Blue-White Classic (Feb. 4).
