TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State women's golf program is set to continue its spring season this Monday at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate held at the Sevierville Golf Club (Par 71, 5,803 Yards) in Sevierville, Tennessee.
Â
The 36-hole tournament is set to be played March 14-15 after snow and cold conditions forced an adjustment from the original three-day event. The 13-team tournament field includes Bellarmine, Carson-Newman, Findlay, Lindsey Wilson College, Maryville College, Murray State, North Alabama, Northern Kentucky, Radford, Tennessee State, Tusculum, and host Tennessee Tech.
Â
The ISU lineup is headlined by MVC All-Conference selection
Lauren Green who is coming off a solid fall.
Madison Branum,
Kristen Hobbs,
Chelsea Morrow and
Molly Lee round out the Sycamore five on the scorecard.
Â
Hobbs is coming off a ninth place (78-75-153) finish last week at the Benbow Invitational. The sophomore shot a four-over 75 for the Sycamores on the final day and recorded three birdies on the back nine, finishing the two-day event with five birdies total. Green wrapped up the event tied for 13th overall, shooting a 75 Monday before closing out play with an 80 to finish +9. Branum improved her shot total by one stroke Tuesday, shooting a 79 to finish +17 and tied for 32nd.
Â
It marks the ninth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, honoring the late, great Tennessee Tech head coach, Bobby Nichols. Sevierville Golf Club has called the tournament home for each of the eight previous installments, with only the 2020 season absent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Highlands Course has housed the women's portion of the BNI since the beginning and is as challenging as it is beautiful.
