TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Continuing to face adversity with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indiana State University student-athletes shined in the classroom, recording a combined department grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.286 for the spring 2021 semester with 10-of-11 athletic programs holding a term GPA of 3.0 or higher.

"Despite facing unique challenges and adversity during the spring semester and academic year, our student-athletes stepped-up and I couldn't be more proud of their efforts in the classroom," Director of Athletics
Sherard Clinkscales said. "Achieving this level of academic success takes a team effort and I would like to recognize Director of Athletic Studies,
Michelle Stodden, Student-Athlete Success Coach, Brooke Porter and Director of the ISU Student Counseling Center, Dr. Lloyd Chew, for their outstanding work while helping our student-athletes navigate through these unique times. Our coaches have also done an excellent job in setting the academic standard at Indiana State and I applaud their efforts in bringing in students that are focused on academic and career success."

Women's golf posted the department's highest term GPA at 3.75 while the highest men's team GPA came from the baseball program with a 3.07.

In total, 71 athletes earned their baccalaureate degrees, 52 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 for the spring semester, 181 earned Dean's List honors (3.5+ GPA) and 293 earned Athletic Director Honor Roll honors (3.0+ GPA).

Student-athletes also continued to lead the way academically on campus, with their 3.286 spring GPA higher than the regular student body average of 2.993. Student-athletes also hold a 3.338 cumulative GPA as opposed to 3.127 from the student body. Â
