CARBONDALE, Ill. – Indiana State swimming & diving earned a third place after the final day of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Friday at Shea Natatorium.
Missouri State (929.5) captured their fifth-straight conference championship while Southern Illinois (548.5) secured second and Indiana State rounded out the top three with 475.5 points. Behind ISU was Illinois State (444), Northern Iowa (344), Evansville (328.5), Little Rock (318), and Valparaiso (117).
Surging Sycamores
A pair of Sycamores earned All-MVC Honors in the final day of action at the MVC Championships.
Marni Gray was the MVC Champion in the 200-butterfly with a first-place finish with a season-best time of 2:01.89.
Marlene Pavlu Lewin placed second overall in the 200-backstroke clocking a season-best time of 1:58.51.
Two Sycamores earned All-MVC Honorable mention in freshmen
Madie Rutan and
Anna Maria Nasiou. Rutan earned eighth-place finish in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:05.13. Nasiou placed seventh overall clocking a season-best time of 2:19.72 in the 200-breaststoke.
In the 100-freestyle,
Emily Webb,
Kaimi Matsumoto and
Caitie Mansker all three brought home points for the Sycamores. Webb placed ninth overall with a season-best time of 51.61, Matsumoto earned fourteenth place overall touching the wall with a time of 52.43 and Mansker placed sixteenth overall with a time of 53.26.
The 400-freestyle relay team of
Marlene Pavlu Lewin,
Kaimi Matsumoto,
Caitie Mansker and
Emily Webb took fourth to close out the championships with a time of 3:26.52, the second-best time in in program history.
