CARBONDALE, Ill. – Indiana State swimming & diving sits in fifth-place after the 400-medley relay team broke the school record on day one of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Wednesday at Shea Natatorium.

The Sycamores sit in fifth with 116 points, trailing Missouri State (306), Southern Illinois (177), Illinois State (139) and UNI (122). Behind ISU is Little Rock (95), Evansville (93) and Valparaiso (44).

Madie Rutan,
Anna Maria Nasiou,
Marni Gray and
Kaimi Matsumoto broke the school record with a time of 3:44.40 en route to a third-place finish, giving the quartet a podium finish.Â

In the 500-freestlye
Rhiannon Wozny and
Andrea Putrimas earned All-MVC Honorable Mention. Wozny clocked a season-best time of 4:58.83 for a sixth-place finish while Putrimas was right behind her in seventh place with a season-best time of 5:00.56.
Emily Webb earned a ninth-place finish, scoring for the Sycamores with a season-best time of 5:00.57.

The 200-freestlye relay team of
Kaimi Matsumoto,
Marlene Pavlu Lewin,
Ashleigh Sinks and
Caitie Mansker took third on Wednesday evning. Thier bronze finish earned them a podium spot with their time of 1:34.28.

Bailey Betzer made finals in the one-meter diving and finished in fifteenth with a score of 184.00.
