CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Indiana State Swim and Dive team earned its third victory of the season as the Sycamores defeated Eastern Illinois by a score of 189.0 - 74.0 on Friday night from Padovan Pool.
 
Surging Sycamores
The Sycamores started strong with Madie Rutan, Kaimi Matsumoto, Marni Gray, and Marlene Pavlu Lewin taking the victory in the 200 medley relay with a pool record time of 1:45.19.
 
Freshman Madie Rutan made her Sycamore debut tonight setting a pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.62: third best in program history.
 
Rhiannon Wozny also broke a pool record tonight in the 500 freestyle clocking a time of 5:06.60.
 
Sarah Moreau took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:28.0 with a time of 10:28.0; fourth best time in program history.
 
Not only did Indiana State start the meet with a pool record, but it finished on the same note. Caitie Mansker, Marlene Pavlu Lewin, Rhiannon Wozny and Emily Webb clocked a time of 1:37.36 in the 200 freestyle relay to cap the day's victory.
 
Christensen's Corner
"I thought we had a really solid evening," said head coach Josh Christensen. "It has been a tough week of training and we got up and raced all the way through the meet. Our energy was high, and we were focused on continuing to learn and grow each swim."
 
"This was Madie Rutan's debut and she had a great 100 back. She's been training well, so it was fun to see her get in on the racing," said head coach Josh Christensen. "Rhiannon Wozny also had a great meet, with a pool record in the 500. She's becoming an incredibly reliable racer that we know we can always count on." Coach Christensen also noted, "Kaimi continues to step up and lead, so it was fun to see her swim some different events."
