INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second time in as many tournaments, the Indiana State Sycamores finished in the top five in the team standings, while
Lauren Green recorded her second top-five finish of the 2021 fall season to highlight the final day of the Butler Fall Invitational.
The Sycamores (+51) sat among the tournament leaders throughout the majority of the two-day, 54-hole event at the Highland Golf and Country Club as Indiana State turned in two of the lowest team round scores in recent history over the weekend. The Sycamores went
291-304-296 on their way to finishing fifth overall in the field and 13 strokes back of tournament champion Austin Peay State (+38).
Green (+8) and
Madison Branum (+9) continued their recent hot stretch on the course with the duo finishing fifth and sixth overall in the field. It marked Green's second top-five finish of the regular season after finishing third at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, while Branum recorded her top finish on the year continuing a stretch of play that has seen her sit just seven-over-par over her last 72 holes of competitive play.
Molly Lee (+22) also posted a career-best finishing on the weekend with her three-round score of 232 sitting as a personal-best during her time at Indiana State.
"We're heading in the right direction as a team," Head Coach
Greg Towne commented. "However, we are not satisfied with our finish and look to continue to close the gap by working on overcoming our weaknesses and improving them in practice."
Green's final-round 70 (E) marked her lowest round of the 2021 fall season. The Merseyside, England native birdied the sixth and 14th holes on the day to make up for a pair of bogeys on the back-nine to finish tied for the third-lowest score of the day.
Branum continued her strong stretch of play as the junior finished one stroke back of her teammate in sole possession of sixth-place following her final-round 74 (+4). Branum struggled over the front-nine with a trio of early bogeys, but bounced back with a birdie on the 13th hole to close out the tournament.
Kristen Hobbs (+19) and
Chelsea Morrow (+19) tied for 35th overall in the field on the final day. Hobbs posted a 76 (+6) with birdies on the 11th and 17th holes, while Morrow's 76 (+6) featured a birdie on the second hole.
Iyoun Chew (+23) wrapped up the lineup for Coach Towne on the day with a final-round 83 (+13) to finish tied for 49th.
Among the individual scorers, Lee's 78 (+8) on the final day moved the freshman into a tie for 47th overall in the field, while
Grace Welty's 84 (+14) put her 75th overall as the tournament concluded.

· Indiana State finished tied for second overall in the team standings in par-4 scoring with an average of 4.27 strokes per hole.
· The Sycamores added 164 total pars over the three-round event and recorded 18 total birdies.
· Lauren Green tied for third overall in the individual standings in par-3 scoring with the junior sitting at 4.08 strokes per hole (+3).
