Sycamore Athletics Introduces Phased In Approach For Return To Campus

Indiana State Athletics has revealed its gradual phase-in plan for a return to campus over the course of the summer for our student-athletes. The process of testing, screening, physicals and education begins with a limited return on Monday, June 15.

COVID Return

In compliance with NCAA recommendations which include bringing student-athletes back to campus in phases, beginning on Monday, June 15 will begin Phase Zero. Please keep in mind that all of the phase-in dates are subject to change based on guidance from state government as well as the Vigo County Health Authority.

During Phase Zero, a limited amount of student-athletes may begin returning to campus, which will be the first step of reintroducing our student-athletes to the Vigo County and Indiana State University communities. During this phase, those student-athletes who do return will be on campus for medical screenings, testing, physicals and educational opportunities on the new policies and procedures which are being introduced as it relates to COVID-19. There will still be no access to athletics facilities, as this is strictly an educational and medical check phase.

The driving force behind the phased in approach will be how many student-athletes can be accommodated in our medical and athletics facilities at one time. It will also give the Athletic Training staff time to evaluate and make changes to our approach as needed as small numbers of student-athletes return to campus. As Sycamore Athletics continues to move through the phases, more student-athletes will be allowed back to campus and will have use of Indiana State's medical and athletics facilities.
