LAWRENCE, Kan. – Indiana State baseball evened its weekend series with Kansas Saturday afternoon with a 9-3 victory over the Jayhawks inside Hoglund Park.
Ellison Hanna II led ISU with three hits on the day as the Sycamores outhit Kansas, 12-9.
Collin Liberatore (2-1) earned his second win of the season after a seven-inning effort. The right-hander struck out two and did not issue a free pass after facing 27 Jayhawk (7-7) hitters. KU sprayed just seven hits across the field on Liberatore, including one home run in the third inning.
Hanna II led the team with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, including two runs scored.

Indiana State (7-6) led 3-2 nearly halfway through the contest before reeling off five runs in the fifth inning as eight Sycamores saw the plate. Hanna II led off the frame by drawing a walk before
Diego Gines reach on a hot-by-pitch.
After
Brandt Nowaskie loaded the bases on a throwing error, freshman catcher
Grant Magill singled in a run with a single to center. Junior outfielder Sean ross busted the inning open with a two-RBI double to left field before
Miguel Rivera recorded a sacrifice fly to score Nowaskie.
Liberatore handed off the pitching duties to the bullpen in the eighth inning as ISU called upon
Geremy Guerrero. The lefty saw three batters and allowed two hits before
Zach Frey entered and finished the game for the Sycamores. The right-hander struck out one and did not allow a base hit in the finale inning and two-thirds.
Kansas was charged with five fielding errors on the day, including one in the second inning as Indiana State plated two runs, first on a bunt that was thrown away. ISU later traded a run for two outs as well in the second with a ground ball double play from Schaffer that allowed Gines to cross the plate.
Everhett Hazelwood was charged with the loss for Kansas, falling to 2-1 on the year. He faced 29 batters over four and a third innings while surrendering nine hits and eight runs. The right-hander struck out four, issued four walks and two doubles.
Nathan Metcalf led KU at the plate with a 2-for-4 day including a solo home run in the third.
Indiana State will look for the series win Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
