NORMAL, Ill. – The Sycamores carded a pair of strong opening rounds of 303 and 304 and are in 11
th place after the first rounds of the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,010-yard lay-out of the Weibring Golf Club.
In the morning's opening round,
Alex Jennings and
Kayla Ryan fired rounds of 75 while
Sierra Hargens carded a score of 76. Sophomore
Lauren Green tallied a mark of 77 while
Kristen Hobbs made her Sycamore debut with a round of 82.
Ryan led the way in the evening with a round of 74 – a trip around the course which featured four birdies. Hargens and Green tallied second rounds of 76. Hargens owned three birdies while Green posted one.
Alex Jennings posted a second round of 78 after tallying one birdie and Hobbs recorded a second round of 81 with a birdie.
The Sycamores posted an opening round of 303 and came back with a score of 304 in the afternoon for a total of 607 which is 11
th in the field of 17.
Ryan's total of 149 has her in a tie for 28
th place while
Sierra Hargens is tied for 38
th place with a score of 152.
Lauren Green and
Alex Jennings are tied for 44
th place with a total of 153 while Hobbs finished with a total of 163 is tied for 87
th place.
IUPUI leads the field after posting a pair of rounds of 293. The Sycamores have a 10 stroke lead over Evansville who carded a total of 617. ISU is also ahead of Butler, Bowling Green, Western Illinois, Loyola and Ohio.
