The Indiana State women's golf team opens the fall portion of their schedule on Sunday and Monday, September 7-8 at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill. The tournament is hosted by Illinois State and will be held at the par-72, 6,010-yard layout of the Weibring Golf Club.
The Sycamore lineup will consist of
Alex Jennings,
Sierra Hargens, freshman
Kristen Hobbs,
Kayla Ryan and
Lauren Green. Hargens ranked 16th in the MVC last season with a 77.48 stroke average over 23 rounds. She finished in a tie for 18th place at the MVC Championship with rounds of 77, 73 and 79 for a three-round total of 229 – which was her best conference championship finish in three appearances.Â

"In qualifying, Sierra and Lauren posted the lowest scores among the team," head coach
Greg Towne said. "I don't know what to expect with only a week to practice under our belts. The freshman have to get up to speed but that is to be expected. I think we are rusty because we didn't have that many of the players play during the summer. We haven't been to this course since my first year here. It presents some different shots than we normally have to make. I expect our top three to do fairly well and we will need others to step up and see how much they can learn in one practice round."
Joining in the Sycamores in the field will be: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Butler, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, IUPUI, Loyola Chicago, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois and Xavier.
The event begins on Sunday at 9 am (ET) with 36 holes of play while the third and final round is set for Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. (ET).
