TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- After the opening 18 holes of the ISU Spring Invitational, Indiana State stands in sixth place among the 13-team field at the the Sycamores' lone home tournament of the season. The event is being held at The Country Club of Terre Haute which is set up over a par-72, 6,004-yard layout.
The Sycamores were led by senior
Thilda Staubo who recorded a round of 73 and she is in a tie for ninth place. Staubo was the champion of the Saluki Invitational and will have to make up four shots on tournament leader Katlyn Shutt of Youngstown State who posted a mark of 69.
Indiana State fired a team score of 307 which places them in sixth place -- and third among the five Missouri Valley Conference teams in the field. Youngstown State led the way with a three-under-par score of 285 which is six shots ahead of California Baptist who fired a mark of 291. Butler was third with a score of 300 while Loyola is fourth at 302 while UNI is fifth at 305 -- two shots ahead of the Sycamores. ISU leads Green Bay with a score of 309 while Purdue Fort Wayne is eighth at 310. Evansville and Valpo fired rounds of 312 and 314 which is in ninth and 10th place.
Sierra Hargens posted a round of 77 which was tied for 25th while
Sophie Benetti's mark of 78 is tied for 37th.
Kayla Ryan tallied a score of 79 which was for 43rd place while
Abigail Irwin posted a round of 85 which is tied for 69th place.
Madison Branum tallied a round of 80 which is tied for 49th place while
Lauren Green's score of 83 is tied for 60th place.
Sydney Parrish tallied a score of 89 which was 75th.
The second and final round of the ISU Spring Invitational is set for Monday, April 8 at The Country Club of Terre Haute. The round begins with a shotgun start at 9:30 am (ET).
