WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Indiana State's
Sierra Hargens and
Thilda Staubo are both inside the individual top 20 as the Sycamores shook off a tough morning round to record the third-best second round score in the field and are in sixth place after the first two rounds of the William & Mary Intercollegiate. The event is being held at the Kingsmill Resort, River Course which is a par-72. 6,025-yard layout.
The Sycamores rebounded from a morning round of 334 to record a sparkling mark of 314 in the afternoon --- which was the third-best of the second 18 holes among the 14 team field. The total of 648 is in sixth place. Seton Hall leads the way with rounds of 301 and 313 for a total of 614. Just six shots ahead of the Sycamores in a tie for fourth place are host William & Mary as well as Akron. The Sycamores are 20 shots ahead of Loyola who finished with rounds of 327 and 341 for a total of 648 and are in 11th place.
Sierra Hargens posted rounds of 81 and 75 for a total of 156 and is tied for 13th place.
Thilda Staubo enjoyed the team's best performance of the opening round with a 79 and then came back with an 80 in the afternoon. Her total of 159 is tied for 19th place as she joined Hargens inside the individual Top 20.
Kayla Ryan came back from an opening round of 87 in the morning to fire a 77 in the second round. Her total of 164 is tied for 34th place.
Sophie Benetti shaved five shots off her morning score of 87 with an evening tally of 82 for a total of 169 which is tied for 46th place.
Lauren Green is in 71st place after rounds of 91 and 88 for a total of 179. Playing as an individual,
Abigail Irwin had rounds of 97 and 93 for a total of 190 and is in 77th place.
The third and final round is set for Tuesday, March 19 with a shotgun start beginning at 9:00 am (ET).
