NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Seniors
Brooke Moore and
Ryan Cash had phenomenal days on the track for Indiana State, as they led the delegation of distance runners at the Alex Wilson Invitational with two of the top-10 performances in school history in their respective events.
"Notre Dame was our final tune-up before conference," Head Coach
Angela Martin said. "The small group we took up there did well and it was nice to see Ryan [Cash] and Cale [Kilian] have some great progress, and we know Brooke is in great shape."
Moore, the senior distance star, raced in the 800-meter run on Saturday and crossed the finish line with the sixth-best time in ISU history of 2:07.37 en route to a fourth-place finish. Not only does her time move her up the record book, it also pushes her to the best time in the Missouri Valley Conference and 35th in the nation. After her performance on Saturday, Moore now owns the top times in the Valley in the 800-meter run, mile-run and 3000-meter run.
A trio of Sycamore men placed in the top-10 in the mile run at Notre Dame, with Zionsville native
Ryan Cash leading the way in third, clocking the 10th-fastest time in school history of 4:09.07.
Akis Medrano followed closely behind Cash in fourth with a time of 4:11.05 and
Isaac Bentz took 10th at 4:17.82. Medrano and Cash's converted times of 4:07.85 and 4:08.64 from the Illini Invitational sit at sixth and seventh in the MVC, respectively.
The lone Sycamore competitor in the men's 800-meter run was sophomore
Cale Kilian. Kilian raced his way to a 14th place finish with a time of 1:52.73, a new personal-best and the ninth-best time in ISU history. His time moves him from 19th to 11th on the conference performance list.
Indiana State will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 23 when they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Northern Iowa.
