Sycamores Set to Compete in the Purdue Invite Over the Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Swimming and Diving is set to travel to West Lafayette, Ind. to compete in the Purdue invite this weekend. The Sycamores will be swimming against seven other teams in the invite.
The blue and while will compete against:

Purdue University
Louisville
University of Pittsburgh
Florida International
Grand Canyon
McKendree
Illinois State

Series History
This will be the first time in school history that Indiana State has swam in the Purdue Invite.

"This weekend will be a great opportunity for us to work on executing in a prelims/finals format," head coach Josh Christensen said. "We've put together a strong fall in training and dual meet competition and we are looking forward to using those experiences to help us take the next step forward."

Sycamore Leaflets

The Sycamores enter this weekend's contest with a record of 4-3 coming off two wins over Xavier and Illinois State.
The Trees claimed first in every event in their win over Xavier.
Senior Kendall Hansen won four events against Xavier and Illinois State combined. Posting her best times of the weekend against Xavier. Hansen posted a time of 57.23 in the 100 backstroke and a time of 2:03.58 in the 200 backstroke.
Alex Malmborg claimed two victories against Illinois State. Malmborg posted a time of 24.24 in the 50 freestyle and a time of 53.62 in the 100 freestyle.
Freshman Kaimi Matsumoto took first place in the 200 freestyle against Illinois State posting a time of 1:55.47, while claiming second place in the 200 IM posting a time of 2:10.74.
Lastly, Diver Keara Shelton claimed second in the 3 meter dive with a score of 249.68.
Prelims are slated to begin at 10 a.m. ET daily and finals at 6 p.m. ET nightly. Events will take place Nov. 21-23 and will be swam at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center and admission is free to attend.
