INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana State sophomore
Lauren Green continued her strong fall campaign by finishing in a tie for fourth place and leading the Sycamores to a third place finish at the Butler Fall Invitational over Monday and Tuesday at the par-70, 5,860-yard layout of the Highland Golf and Country Club.
Green posted a final round of 73 to go with Monday's scores of 75 and 77 for a total of 225 which put her in a fourth place tie. Katelyn Le of Butler posted rounds of 73, 76 and 72 for a final tally of 221 and the individual championship.
The Sycamores rebounded from a Monday opening round of 317 to card scores of 303 and 305 and finish with a three-round total of 925 and the third place finish. Lipscomb won the event with rounds of 310, 293 and 302 for a total of 905. Host Butler carded rounds of 301, 311 and 302 for a total of 914 and a second place finish. Indiana State's score of 925 bested a fourth place tie between Western Illinois and Evansville with marks of 934. In sixth place was Loyola with a score of 945 while Chicago State's score of 986 was seventh and Marian rounded out the field with a score of 1,021.
Senior
Sierra Hargens owned rounds of 78 and 74 on Monday and followed that with a score of 78 on Tuesday for a total of 230 and a tie for 12th place. Freshman
Kristen Hobbs notched the Top 20 finish as he scores of 84, 74 and 75 gave her a total of 233 and a tie for 15th place.
Kayla Ryan finished in a tie for 27th place with rounds of 80, 79 and 83 for a total of 242 while
Alex Jennings carded rounds of 86, 78 and 79 for a total of 243 and a tie for 30th place.
Playing as individuals, freshman
Chelsea Morrow posted rounds of 85, 81 and 79 for a total of 245 which tied her for 36th place while
Madison Branum owned rounds of 84, 79 and 84 for a total of 247 which was tied for 40th place.
The Sycamores return to action next week when they take part in the Mastodon Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, October 14-15 in Fort Wayne.
