Terre Haute, Ind. -- Five members of the Indiana State women's soccer team earned selection to the All-Missouri Valley Conference teams, as senior Maddie Orf, junior Kasey Wallace, sophomores Katie Wells and Katie Sullivan, and freshman Pam Silies were honored prior to the team taking on top-seed Illinois State in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament on Friday.
Orf and Wells each earned First Team All-MVC, while Wallace and Sullivan earned Honorable Mention All-MVC. Silies was selected to the All-Freshman squad.
Orf, a senior midfielder from St. Charles, Mo., has been a mainstay on the field this season, starting in every game and leading the team in goals with six. Orf has scored all of her goals in 2016 off of her head while also being second on the team in points with 16. Currently she is placed in the top-10 of nine offensive record categories at Indiana State. Wells, a sophomore forward from Indianapolis, Ind., is leading the team in points with 19 after recording five goals and an outstanding nine assists on the year. Wells has continually been a player the Sycamore squad looks to in the big, high pressure moments. She leads the team with three game winning goals on the season and has come up with assist on the game winning goal numerous other times. Wells had an especially impressive game against the Drake Bulldogs during regular season MVC play as she recorded a goal and assist in the match.Â
Wallace, a junior defender from Borden, Ind., has been the Sycamores starting center back since she first stepped foot on campus in 2014. Wallace has been a defensive beast for Indiana State playing in nearly every minute so far of the 2016 season. Wallace has also notched six shots with two on goal for ISU along with finishing her penalty kick during the shootout win over Drake on Oct. 30 that propelled the Sycamores into the final four of the MVC Tournament.
Sophomore defender Katie Sullivan from Overland Park, Kan., has been another consistently solid center back for Indiana State. Playing alongside Wallace for the past two seasons, Sullivan has blocked many shot opportunities and played a huge role in helping to keep opponents shots on goal to a minimum. Sullivan is not only great defensively, but can produce on the offensive end as well having recorded three assists while also adding five shots with four on goal.
Silies, a freshman forward from Imperial, Mo., has made a name for herself as an integral part of Indiana State's offensive attack, especially during MVC play.
