Sycamores Win Indiana State Spring Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Sycamore women's golf team won the 2014 Indiana State Spring Invitational held at the Country Club of Terre Haute on April 13-14 besting a nine-team field. This tournament was the first one at home in the regular season since the program resumed in 2006.

 

Indiana State entered the cold and wet final day in second place to William Woods by one stroke. The Sycamores tallied a team score of 307 to finish with a 620 over the two rounds which earned them a six shot win. William Woods posted a 314 to finish second with a score of 626 while Northern Iowa's 308 gave them a 627 and a third place finish.

 

Evansville carded a 312 to finish with a tournament score of 631 for fourth while Loyola's 313 gave them a 634 which was good enough fifth. Bradley and Drake each shot a 640 to finish in a tie for sixth while SIU Edwardsville was eighth with a tournament score of 652 and Eastern Illinois rounded out the field with a 671.

 

Erinn Sutton tallied a 74 to give her a 152 for the tournament a tie for fourth place. Amanda Smith's 78 gave her a 153 and she was alone in sixth place. Marissa Uradomo shaved four strokes off her day one score with a 77 for a 158 over the tournament. McCall Christopher posted a final round 78 to give her a 159 for the weekend and a 15th place finish. The Sycamores were rounded out by Megan Berube who carded an 86 in the final round for a two-day score of 165 and a 37th place finish.

 

Gina Della Camera tallied an 81 to finish the tournament with a score of 159 which was tied for 15th. Andrea Frankieqicz shot an 83 on both days for a score of 166 and a 39th place finish. Margaret Harper's 85 put her at the 173 for the tournament and a 47th place finish while Shelby Williams posted a 92 and two-day score of 182 was good enough for 54th.

 

Indiana State will now travel to Springfield, Ill., for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship on April 20-22.
