An Indiana State Win Over Saint Louis Would ...
• Give Indiana State a win in each of their last five home openers.
• Be Indiana State's first victory over Saint Louis since 1983, and break a string of eight straight Billiken wins in the series.
• Be the Sycamores' 44th victory inside Hulman Center under fifth-year head coach Greg Lansing.

The Indiana State Head Coach
Indiana State head coach Greg Lansing (South Dakota, 1990) is 80-55 (.593) overall in his fifth season as a head coach. He is 41-31 all-time in MVC games, including a 27-9 mark at home and a 14-22 record on the road. Against nationally-ranked opponents Lansing holds a 4-10 record, including a 3-5 mark in road contests. He is tied with Bill Hodges for most victories over a nationally-ranked team (four) in the history of the program.

A Little History
Indiana State is currently in its 119th season of college basketball at the school. The Sycamores are 1,427-1,222 all-time on the hardwood.

Khristian Smith Leads The Sycamores To Season Opening Victory At IUPUI
Indiana State junior Khristian Smith tallied 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Sycamores to a 79-66 overtime victory in the season opener at IUPUI. Smith went 8-of-19 from the field, hit a pair of 3-pointers and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line in a return to his hometown of Indianapolis. Smith added, one assist, one block and one steal. Smith score 21 points in the second half and overtime, and hit a trey in transition with 15:18 remaining to cut the Jaguar lead down to 39-37. That trifecta started a 7-0 run that Smith finished with a pair of free throws for a 41-39 lead. Trailing by two points and the clock ticking under six minutes, Smith hit a 3-pointer and then converted a conventional 3-point play following one of Smith's defensive rebounds for the 53-49 lead. Smith hit four of nine free throws in the final five minutes of regulation to help the Sycamores to victory.

Brenton Scott A Difference Maker In First Collegiate Game
Indiana State redshirt freshman Brenton Scott scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds in the 79-66 overtime victory at IUPUI. It was Scott's collegiate debut as he was 8-of-10 from the free throw line with one steal in 35 minutes of action. Scott's first points came off an inbounds pass from TJ Bell just 5 and a half minutes into stake the Sycamores to an 11-8 advantage. Scott would also hit a pair of free throws with 13:18 left in regulation to take a lead over IUPUI. He then took a feed from Alex Etherington for a fastbreak layup on the next possession to put ISU up 45-42.

For Openers
Indiana State is now 77-42 in season openers after a road overtime victory over IUPUI. The Sycamores have won five of their last six lidlifters, with three victories coming at home, one on a neutral court and now one in a true road game. Indiana State won its first season opener in a true road contest since December 1, 1970 when they were victorious at Purdue, 84-82. The Sycamores had dropped 14 consecutive season openers on the road prior to this year's victory over the Jaguars. In home openers, the Sycamores will look to extend their current winning streak to six against Saint Louis on Tuesday night.

Sycamores Have Won Over 60 Percent Of Their “Bounce Back” Games Under Greg Lansing

Since the 2010-11 campaign, the Sycamores are 33-21 (.611) in a game which follows a loss. Indiana State saw a streak of seven victories in a game which followed a defeat come to an end last season. With the victory at IUPUI, the Sycamores are off to a new streak as that victory followed a road loss at Arkansas in last season's NIT.
