TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men's basketball head coach
Matthew Graves announced the first signee of the 2026-27 class: EJ McQuillan.
McQuillan, a Port Allen, Louisiana native, spent the last three seasons at LSU of Alexandria in the NAIA. The team is coming off an 23-9, 18-4 season where they fell in the conference championship in overtime but received a bid to the NAIA National Championship First Round.

Matthew Graves. "EJ brings a winning track record to our program, having won a championship in each of the last seven years of his basketball career. He won four straight high school state championships and three championships at LSU-Alexandria. He has a great ability to score the ball and impact winning on so many different levels. We are excited for him to get to campus and get to work."
The 6-4 guard earned NAIA Second Team All-American honors as he led his team to the NAIA Tournament, starting all 32 games in the season playing an average of 34.6 minutes per game. He's coming off his best season, scoring 652 points on the season, averaging 20.4 points per game in 2025-26 shooting 39.5% from the field but 38.5% from three (90-234). He pulled down 4.3 rebounds per game while dishing out 2.4 assists per game. He added in 36 steals and a team-high 82.9% (180-217) mark from the free throw line.
McQuillan led his league in scoring and was 13th in three-point percentage, where he earned an All-RRAC First Team Selection for the second-straight season.
In his three-year career, he played 93 games with 74 starts totaling 1,322 points, 298 rebounds, 162 assists, and 91 steals with a 38.4% field goal percentage and a 36.2% three-point percentage.
