EUGENE, ORE.  ? Indiana State senior Lauren Martin (Schaumburg, Ill.) concluded her career at Indiana State by finishing 13th in the women's triple jump on the second day of the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday.

Martin jumped 42'-0” (12.80 meters) on her third attempt but still fell short of making the top nine who advanced to the finals.

“She really competed well in difficult weather conditions,” John Gartland, Indiana State women's track & field coach said. “It was raining off and on, and the wind was swirling. At times they were jumping into a head wind.”

Martin has competed in three NCAA Outdoor Championships and two NCAA Indoor Championships while being named an All-American in the triple jump three times. She has a chance to earn her fourth All-American award with her finish this year. The 2010 Outdoor All-Americans will be announced on Monday. Her best finish outdoors came last year with a 10th place finish. She was fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past winter.

Martin won three Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Outdoor titles while earning 10 MVC Outdoor All-Conference selections. Martin was named all-conference all four years in the triple jump while winning two titles. She also earned three selections in the long jump (2008, 2009, 2010), two more as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team (2009, 2010) which won the 2010 title, and one as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team (2010).

She also won six MVC Indoor titles while earning eight MVC Indoor All-Conference selections with three coming in the triple jump as she won three straight titles (2008, 2009, 2010) and three coming as a member of the 4x400 relay team that also won three straight titles (2008, 2009, 2010). She also earned All-Conference in the long jump (2010) and as member of the distance medley relay team (2007).

She is the school record holder in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump, establishing the indoor mark of 43'-10.5” (13.37 meters) at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships while establishing the outdoor mark of 44'-4.75” (13.53 meters) during the 2009 Mideast Regional.

She also holds the Indiana State long jump outdoor record at 20'-4.5” (6.20 meters) set at the 2009 MVC Outdoor Championships, and the indoor record of 19'-11.75” (6.09 meters) set at the 2010 MVC Indoor Championships. She is also a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that set the school record with a time of 3:38.94 set at the 2010 MVC Outdoor Championships.

Indiana State senior Kylie Hutson competes in the women's pole vault starting at 7 p.m. (ET) Friday and junior Major Clay competes in the men's high jump starting at 6:30 p.m. (ET) Friday. Senior Erica Moore will compete in the finals of the 400 meter hurdles at 8:15 p.m. (ET) Friday.

Moore competed in the first of three heats of the 400 meter hurdle semifinals on Wednesday, a heat that turned out to be the fastest of the three. The Sycamore got off to a slow start but came on strong at the 200 meter mark and pulled away in the final 100 meters to finish third in the heat with a time of 57.25 which ended up being the sixth fastest overall.

Queen Quedith Harrison, a senior from Virginia Tech, won the opening heat in 55.35 with Texas sophomore Angele Cooper second in 56.24. Miami (Florida) took the two automatic qualifying spots out of the second heat with junior Ti'erra Brown winning the second heat in 56.02 and junior teammate Tameka Jameson second in 57.16. The two automatic berths out of the third heat went to Penn State senior Fawn Door, who won in 56.16, and Miami (Florida) junior Takecia Jameson, who was second in 57.58.
