Indiana State’s Emely Lopez Earns MVC Player of the Week Honors

ST LOUIS, Mo.-  Indiana State freshman Emely Lopez has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, following a dominant offensive performance that powered the Sycamores to a pair of nonconference victories and a 3–1 start to the season.

Lopez delivered one of the most productive weeks in the Valley, totaling three goals and five assists across wins over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and Chicago State. The Shakopee, Minn., native opened the week with a breakout showing on Thursday night, recording two goals and four assists in Indiana State's 12–0 win over SMWC, the program's highest-scoring match of the season. She continued her strong form on Sunday, adding her third goal of the week and her fifth assist in the Sycamores' 5–1 victory over Chicago State.

Through four matches, Lopez has emerged as one of the Valley's most dynamic young attackers, contributing both as a finisher and a creator in Indiana State's early-season surge. Her nine-point week marks one of the strongest single-week performances by a Sycamore freshman in recent history and highlights her growing impact within the program's offensive identity.

Lopez becomes the first Sycamore this season to earn MVC weekly honors, adding to Indiana State's momentum as the team continues nonconference play.
