TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State returns to Price Field this weekend with momentum and confidence as the Sycamores open a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Drake beginning Saturday afternoon. ISU enters the matchup following a strong offensive showing at Illinois, highlighted by a four-run third inning, three extra-base hits, and continued growth at the plate from both veterans and emerging contributors.
The Sycamores' midweek performance featured a surge of energy in the third inning, where Morgan Goodrich tripled to spark the rally, Madison Poulson followed with an RBI double, and Claire Connelly launched her first home run of the season, a three-run shot that tied the game. Hannah Welch added a triple in the fourth, her second of the year, as Indiana State continued to generate pressure throughout the night. ISU has now produced 14 runs over its last four games and continues trending upward offensively heading into the weekend.
Drake arrives in Terre Haute with a schedule that has featured a heavy road load and several tight contests. The Bulldogs opened the year with wins over Green Bay, Western Illinois, and Oakland, and recently picked up MVC victories over UIC, Southern Illinois, and UNI. Drake enters the series at 12–32 overall and 6–16 in Valley play, most recently competing in a home series against Valparaiso before traveling to South Dakota earlier this week.
For Indiana State, the weekend presents an opportunity to build on its recent offensive rhythm, continue producing extra-base swings, and carry forward the consistency shown in the circle and defensively. The Sycamores have scored in multiple innings in three straight games and continue to get meaningful production from the top and middle of the order.
First pitch for Saturday's opener is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Price Field.
Notes
• Alumni Day will be celebrated on Saturday at Price Field.
• Senior Day will also take place on Saturday, honoring Indiana State's senior class prior to first pitch.
