Indiana State Travels to Murray for Three-Game Valley Matchup

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State returns to Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend as the Sycamores travel to Murray, Kentucky for a three-game series against Murray State. The Sycamores enter the matchup with continued offensive momentum after a strong showing at Ball State, where the Sycamores produced seven runs, eight hits, and a pair of multi-run innings in a competitive 8–7 finish on Wednesday afternoon.

Indiana State's offense continued to trend upward in the midweek contest, highlighted by Addie Burns' three-run homer in the second inning and Sophie Esposito's three-run shot in the fifth. Annie Waggoner added two hits and an RBI double, while Mallory Chavez and Madison Poulson each contributed key baserunners that helped fuel ISU's four-run fifth inning. The Sycamores have now scored 18 runs across their last three games and have shown the ability to generate pressure throughout the lineup.

Murray State enters the weekend at 18–19 overall and 9–7 in MVC play, riding a two-game winning streak after taking the final two games of its series against Bradley, including a 10–0 run-rule victory and a 4–3 win in the finale. The Racers have been competitive at home, splitting their last several conference series and picking up notable wins over UIC, Belmont, and Evansville. Missouri Valley Conference Murray State has shown the ability to score in bunches, posting double-digit run totals multiple times this season, including a 16–0 win at UIC earlier this month.

This weekend's matchup gives Indiana State an opportunity to carry its recent offensive rhythm into conference play. The Sycamores have continued to get production from the heart of the order, with Esposito, Burns, Waggoner, and Chavez all contributing key swings over the past week. ISU has also shown improved plate discipline, drawing multiple walks in each of its last three games and consistently creating traffic on the bases.

First pitch for Friday's opener is set for 1 p.m. ET at Racer Field in Murray.
