TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State heads to Dayton, Ohio this weekend and Nischwitz Stadium as the Sycamores take on Wright State in a three-game weekend series spanning April 17-19. All three games will be carried live on 105.5 The Legend, while Sunday's contest will be on ESPN+.
Recapping The Midweek
- Indiana State fell in the midweek contest on Tuesday night against Indiana as the Sycamores dropped a high-scoring 17-12 game at Bob Warn Field.
- The Sycamores hit five home runs in the Tuesday night contest with Nick Sutherlin (two), Caden Miller, Caleb Niehaus, and John Curl all driving the ball over the wall on a windy day at The Bob.
- The two-homer game against Nick Sutherlin marked his second multi-homer contest of the 2026 season and the Sycamores' ninth time a player has hit at least two home runs in the same game this season.
- Indiana State went out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Nick Sutherlin, Caden Miller, and Caleb Niehaus all homered in the first inning. It marked the third time the Sycamores have hit at least three home runs in the same inning in the 2026 season.
- The Sycamore offense came back to life late in the contest as Indiana State mounted a rally back from a 15-5 deficit in the sixth inning.
- Jeremy Martinez, Colin Sander, and Carter Beck all connected on RBI singles, while Nick Sutherlin homered for the second time in a four-run sixth inning to make it a 15-9 game.
- The Sycamores added runs late on a Caleb Niehaus RBI fielder's choice, while Emil Estrella added an RBI single, before John Curl's ninth inning solo home run capped the scoring.
- Five different Indiana State players recorded multi-hit efforts in the game with Nick Sutherlin and Emil Estrella both posting three-hit games on Tuesday.
- Caden Miller added his second triple of the season, while Colin Sander and Carter Beck both doubled in the loss.

- Mason Roell (.418) continues to lead the Indiana State offense from the plate with 33 hits, 30 runs scored, and 27 RBIs over 25 games played. He's currently tied for second on the team with eight home runs, while connecting on six doubles and a triple.
- Colin Sander (.351) continues to rake atop the Indiana State lineup with 11 extra-base hits and 19 RBIs over 19 games played.
- Carter Beck (.353) saw his on-base streak hit 21 consecutive games following Tuesday night's contest against Indiana. Beck leads Indiana State with 19 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI contests, while leading the team with nine home runs.
- The Sycamores are hitting .286 as a team on the season with 52 total home runs and 89 total doubles, both tops among the Missouri Valley teams in 2026.
- Indiana State's doubles mark puts the Sycamores sixth in the NCAA Division I standings and eighth in overall doubles per game (2.41).

- Spencer Johnsen (1-0, 6.91 ERA) is coming off a career-high 5.0 innings pitched with seven strikeouts in the Sunday win over Illinois State. Jack Armstrong (2-2, 4.99 ERA) and Owen Roberts (0-1, 7.20 ERA) have also posted weekend starts on the year.
Sycamores Against Wright State
- Indiana State and Wright State have lined up 13 times over their respective program histories dating back to the inaugural matchup on May 4, 1979, when the Sycamores claimed the 5-4 win in Terre Haute.
