TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State returns to midweek action on Tuesday as the Sycamores travel to Muncie for a non-conference matchup against Ball State. The game comes on the heels of one of Indiana State's most resilient performances of the season, as the Sycamores closed their weekend at Illinois State with a huge 7–6 comeback victory powered by a four-run seventh inning. ISU produced 25 hits across the three-game series and continued to show late-inning toughness, scoring in the seventh inning in all three contests. Sophie Esposito led the way offensively, going 4-for-8 with three RBI, while Mallory Chavez and Lauren Marsicek delivered the game-tying and go-ahead swings in Saturday's finale.
The Cardinals sit at 15–23 overall and 3–11 in the MAC, most recently dropping a weekend series to Western Michigan at home. Despite the recent results, Ball State has shown offensive potential throughout the season, posting double-digit run totals multiple times in non-conference play and picking up notable wins over Memphis, Southern Indiana, and Illinois earlier in the year Ball State University Athletics.
Tuesday's matchup gives Indiana State an opportunity to build on its offensive rhythm and carry momentum into the upcoming stretch of MVC play. The Sycamores have continued to get production throughout the lineup, with Esposito, Goodrich, Burns, Waggoner, and Marsicek all contributing multi-hit efforts over the weekend.
Indiana State will look to carry its offensive rhythm into Tuesday's matchup, building on a weekend where the Sycamores consistently created traffic and delivered in key moments. With the lineup producing quality at-bats throughout the order, ISU aims to keep that momentum rolling against a Ball State team that has shown flashes at home but will have to contend with a Sycamore offense trending upward.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m. ET in Muncie.
