TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Rachel Mehringer tied her own Indiana State and Missouri Valley Conference record in the 100m hurdles Friday at the Crimson Tide Invitational, while Indiana State athletes set seven program top-10 marks inside Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium.
Mehringer's time of 13.04 matched a mark she previously ran in May 2025.
Trent Jones continued his strong season in the 400m with the fastest time by a Sycamore in nearly 20 years, while
Janiya Bowman clocked the fastest 200m time by an Indiana State athlete in over a decade.
Brittney Burak broke her 5000m personal best by more than 20 seconds, while
Amy Luttrell became the first MVC athlete over the 4-meter mark in the pole vault.
Xavier Wills and
Nick Burns both added career-best times in the 800m to move up the program ranks.

Sprints/Hurdles
Rachel Mehringer's assault on the program and conference record books carried on in Tuscaloosa, as the 2025 Second Team All-American matched her own Indiana State and MVC record time of 13.04 Friday. Mehringer cruised to another first place finish, crossing the line more than two-tenths of a second ahead of the field. The record-tying time also moved Mehringer into the top 10 in the nation in the event this season.
Indiana State also had a pair of sprinters make program history Friday, as
Janiya Bowman clocked the fastest 200m time by a Sycamore in over a decade and
Trent Jones ran Indiana State's fastest 400m time in nearly 20 years. Bowman's 200m time of 23.41 moved her to third in program history and placed her second in the field, while Jones ran a 400m time of 46.97 to move into fourth in program history. In addition, Jones also clocked an anchor leg time of 45.98 as part of the Sycamores' season-best 4x400m relay with
Nick Burns,
Caden Emmert and
Xavier Wills which crossed the line in 3:14.00.
The Sycamores also picked up a top-five finish from
Casey Hood Jr. in the 100m, as the 2025 Second Team All-American ran a time of 10.60.
Jahnel Bowman also added a career-best 200m time of 24.52
Indiana State had a pair of athletes compete in the 400m hurdles, as
Noelle Dilosa clocked a season-best time of 1:02.96 and
Aubrey Runyon ran a time of 1:03.04 in her event debut.
Kyarra DeGroote ran a 400m time of 57.68, the third-fastest of her career.
Mid-Distance/Distance
Indiana State had a trio of distance and mid-distance athletes move their way up the program top-10 charts in Friday's meet, including a pair in the 800m.
Xavier Wills and
Nick Burns finished with nearly identical times in Tuscaloosa, with Wills' time of 1:50.55 ranking eighth and Burns' time of 1:50.56 ranking ninth in program history.
Brittney Burak also had a big performance for the Blue and White in the 5000m, setting a career-best time in the event by more than 20 seconds. Burak crossed the line in 16:34.94, a time which ranked fourth in program history, with the redshirt sophomore also earning a second-place finish in the field.
Mason Nobles had the top result for the Sycamores in the event on the men's side, finishing with a time of 15:00.65.
Indiana State also had two of the top three finishers in the 3000m steeplechase, with
Alli Steffey and
Gnister Grant both making their first appearance in the event this season. Steffey crossed the line in 11:14.71 to place second, while Grant finished third with her time of 11:18.26.
Ryan York also added a top-five finish for the Trees in the 1500m with a time of 3:53.51.
Jumps
Indiana State continued its recent run of success in the field Friday, with multiple conference leaders putting together strong performances in the jumps events.
Amy Luttrell had the headliner for the group in the pole vault, clearing an outdoor career-best mark of 4.03m (12-2.5) to move up to seventh in program history in the event. Luttrell finished third in the field, one of three top-three finishes for Sycamore athletes in jumps events Friday.
Luttrell wasn't the only Sycamore to enjoy success in the pole vault Friday, as
Campbell Roberts cleared an outdoor career-best mark of 3.83m (12-6.75) to earn a top-10 finish.
Lincoln Hulsey and
Dan O'Laughlin both earned top-10 finishes on the men's side, with the Sycamore duo each clearing 4.85m (15-11).
Janiya Bowman added to her big day with a second-place finish in the long jump, surpassing the 6-meter mark for the second time this season. Bowman, Indiana State's indoor and outdoor program record holder in the event, recorded a top mark of 6.08m (19-11.5) to finish second in the event.
Kilan Macklin also made his outdoor season debut in the long jump after returning from an injury during indoor season, earning a top-10 finish in the event with his mark of 6.78m (22-3).
Indiana State continued its strong run of form in the triple jump, as
Jahnel Bowman placed second with her mark of 12.60m (41-4.25). Bowman had three attempts of 12.44m (40-9.75) or better, and remained the only athlete in the conference to surpass the 12-meter mark.
Justice Boston also registered a season-best mark of 11.81m (38-9) to finish sixth, while
Jaden Smith earned a top-10 finish on the men's side with a mark of 14.57m (47-9.75) in his outdoor season debut.
Noah Gilmore also added a top-10 finish for the Blue and White in the high jump, as the Sycamore sophomore cleared 2.00m (6-6.75).
Throws
Indiana State's throwers did not compete in Friday's meet, with the group set to return to competition at the Gibson Invitational.

Indiana State returns to the friendly confines of the John McNichols Memorial Track at the Gibson Track and Field Complex April 16-18 for the 2026 Gibson Invitational. Competition in the heptathlon and decathlon will take place April 16-17, with all other events contested April 17-18.
