TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's track and field's
Aliseonna Garnett was named this week's Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athletes of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
Garnett notched two event wins over the weekend at the Big Blue Classic at Eastern Illinois. The junior won in shot put (14.35m/47-1) and discus (53.71m/176-2), with her mark in the discus representing both a career-best mark and a top-five mark in program history. Garnett also placed third in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 52.70m (172-11). She was eight meters ahead of the field in the discus, while finishing as the only athlete above the 14-meter mark in the shot put.
Garnett's season-opening performance has her ranked in the top three in the Missouri Valley Conference in all three throws events she competed in. The Indianapolis native owns the top mark in the conference in the discus, while ranking second in the shot put and third in the discus. Garnett's discus mark also ranks third in the Great Lakes Region, 11th in NCAA East Region qualifying and 23rd nationally. In addition to her discus mark, she ranks 14th in the hammer throw and 16th in the shot put in the Great Lakes Region.
The Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every week throughout the 2025-26 athletic season.
