TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's swimming & diving's
Grace Cummings was named this week's Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athletes of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
Grace Cummings opened the Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships meet winning the 500-yard Freestyle event on Wednesday evening in posting an Indiana State school record-setting time of 4:45.98. She followed up three days later in Saturday's 1650-yard Freestyle, setting a school-record time of 16:17.25 in winning the event and becoming the first Sycamore swimmer in program history to meet the NCAA Standard to advance to the NCAA Championships.
With her pair of wins, as well as being a pair of the Sycamores' 800-yard Freestyle Relay team, Cummings became just the second Indiana State swimmer to earn MVC Freshman of the Year honors in program history, joining teammate
Claire Parsons who received the recognition following the 2024 MVC Championships.
The Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every week throughout the 2025-26 athletic season.
