Indiana State heads to Nassau, Bahamas to take on Penn State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State closes out the season-opening road trip as the Sycamores head from Terredise to Paradise for a three-game series against Penn State in Nassau, Bahamas over February 27-March 1. All three games will be played at the Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium and will be streamed live via FloCollege.
 
Recapping the Midweek
  • Indiana State split the midweek series at Florida Gulf Coast as the Sycamores rallied back from a 17-1 loss on Tuesday night, to salvage the series split with a 5-4 win on Wednesday evening inside Swanson Stadium.
  • The midweek record moved the Sycamores to 4-5 overall on the year.
  • Carter Beck paced the Sycamores with a pair of doubles over the midweek and was one of two Indiana State players to record hits in both games against the Eagles joined by Jeremy Martinez.
  • Andrew Ortiz was one of the bright spots in Wednesday's win as the sophomore outfielder reached base four times over his five plate appearances, connecting on a ground-rule double, while adding three walks and two runs scored.
  • Weston Fulk added a double in his first start in the 2026 season, while Emil Estrella continued to swing the hot bat early with a multi-hit game on Wednesday evening.
  • Justin Hoff made his 2026 debut out of the bullpen on Wednesday evening with the Sycamore right-hander throwing a scoreless seventh inning after entering with a two-on, none-out jam.
  • Spencer Johnsen recorded Indiana State's first save of the season after throwing 2.0 shutout innings, including getting the game-ending strikeout to secure the split.
  • Colby Morse added his first win on the mound this season.
Season Spotlight
  • With his hot bat over the week, Jeremy Martinez took over the team's batting lead with a .391 average from the plate with nine hits over 23 at-bats. The sophomore catcher and reigning MVC Co-Freshman of the Year added a pair of doubles and his first home run of the 2026 season this past weekend, while posting a .516 on-base percentage and .609 slugging percentage this year.
  • Caden Miller continues to hit in the middle of the Sycamores' lineup with a .267 batting average over his first nine games on the field. He's added a double, triple, and nine RBIs on the season.
  • Carter Beck (.289) continues to find ways to get on base as the junior outfielder enters the weekend on an eight-game hitting streak and nine-game on-base streak this year.
  • Three Sycamores have been penciled into the starting lineup every game so far in the 2026 season with Carter Beck (CF), Emil Estrella (DH/RF), and Nick Sutherlin (1B/3B) everyday starters. Caden Miller, Eddie Alonso, and Caleb Niehaus have also been on the field in all nine games.
  • Ty Brooks headlines the Indiana State pitching staff to date with team-highs in innings pitched (15.0) and starts (3), while recording two of the Sycamores' three wins on the mound. Brooks has a 1.20 ERA over his 15.0 innings and a .098 opponent batting average.
  • Jack Armstrong is the team's strikeout leader through the first two weeks of the season as the right-handed reliever has posted nine strikeouts over 6.2 innings of work. He has allowed opponents to hit just .087 from the plate on the year while posting a 0.00 ERA and receiving the win against Miami (Ohio).
Sycamores Against Penn State
  • Indiana State is 2-1 all-time against Penn State dating back to their inaugural contest back in the 1994 season with a neutral site matchup in Austin, Texas.
  • The Nittany Lions won the initial game, 10-6, in Austin.
  • The Sycamores claimed the next two games in the 2001 season with Indiana State winning 8-5 and 7-3 over March 5 and 6, 2001, in College Station, Texas.

  • The Nittany Lions offense this season is paced by Kevin Karstetter's .364 batting average with a double and a pair of RBIs.

Indiana State is putting the miles on the rewards card over the first month of the season as the Sycamores make trips to Puerto Rico, Miami, Port Charlotte, Fort Myers, and The Bahamas, before returning home for their 2026 home opener at Bob Warn Field on March 4 against Lindenwood.

From Terredise to Paradise
  • This weekend the Sycamores head to The Bahamas to take on Penn State University at the Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium.
  • The series between Indiana State and Penn State will be held over February 27-March 1 and are the first-ever NCAA Division I baseball games to be played in The Bahamas.
  • Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium, located on the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre, opened in 2022 and features a synthetic grass field, team locker rooms and executive suites. The venue also played host to the 2022 Caribbean Baseball Cup.
Indiana State Baseball Season Tickets on Sale Now
Season tickets for the 2026 Indiana State baseball season are now on sale as the Sycamores head into their second season under Head Coach Tracy Archuleta. The Sycamores will play 21 home games inside Bob Warn Field this season, starting on March 4 against Lindenwood.
 
Reserved chairback season tickets can be purchased for $110. General admission season tickets will go on sale as well with adult ($75), seniors ($55), and youth ($40) tickets also being available for purchase. There will be a $5 surcharge added to those wanting tickets printed.
 
The Sycamores have teamed up with Pacesetter Sports and the Spirit Shop for the third consecutive season for a season ticket deal. Fans will receive a $50 Pacesetter gift card for each $110 reserved chairback season ticket, $35 gift card for each $75 general admission season ticket, $25 gift card for each $55 senior general admission ticket, and $20 gift card for each $40 youth season ticket sold.
