Last Time Out
Kennedy Claybrooks finished two rebounds and two assists shy of a triple-double Thursday afternoon, leading Indiana State to a 77-63 win over Valparaiso inside the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Claybrooks tallied team-leading totals of 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, with four of Indiana State's five starters scoring in double-figures. Amerie Flowers added 14, Da'Naria Washington finished with 11 and Samiyah Briggs chipped in 10.

Indiana State led wire-to-wire and took control early with a 15-4 run to start the game. The Sycamores built a double-digit lead in the first half behind 10 points in the opening 20 minutes from Claybrooks. Indiana State further extended its advantage with a 20-2 run to end the second and start the third quarter, mainly scoring inside to push its lead to 53-31. Valpo clawed its way back and pulled within nine late in the fourth quarter, but the Sycamores' work in the first three quarters propelled the Blue and White to its first road conference win of the season.

Hoosier State Supremacy
Indiana State has a chance to complete a perfect 4-0 campaign against the fellow in-state schools in the Missouri Valley Conference with a win Sunday at Evansville.

» The Sycamores already claimed a season sweep over Valparaiso (88-78 in Terre Haute, 77-63 in Valparaiso) and defeated Evansville 77-71 in Terre Haute earlier this season. Indiana State owns a 4-2 record against in-state competition this season.

Should the Sycamores complete the in-state sweep, it would mark the second time in the last three seasons that Indiana State went 4-0 against the other Indiana schools in the conference. Indiana State last went 4-0 against the in-state MVC schools in the 2023-24 season, and also accomplished the feat in the 2017-18 season, which was Valparaiso's first in the MVC.

Pencils Down, Class In Session
Indiana State guard Kennedy Claybrooks has picked up her play over the course of Indiana State's last six games, posting five double-digit scoring outings and her first career double-double in that span.

Claybrooks is averaging 13.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game since Indiana State's Jan. 11 contest at Bradley. She tallied a 16-point, 11-assist double-double at Bradley and nearly recorded triple-doubles against both Evansville (13 points, nine rebounds, nine assists) and Valparaiso (16 points, eight rebounds, eight assists).

The uptick in form for Claybrooks has also coincided with more efficient shooting, as the Memphis native is shooting 56.6 percent from the field, 75 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the charity stripe in the recent six-game surge.

Increased Output
Indiana State guard Da'Naria Washington has scored in double-figures in three of the Sycamores' last four games, including each of the last two. Washington tallied a season-high 17 points in the first matchup against Evansville and scored in double-figures in recent games against both Illinois State (10) and Valparaiso (11).

Over the last four games, Washington is averaging 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from both the field (15-for-30) and 3-point range (3-for-6). Washington is also shooting 86.7 percent from the free throw line over the last four games.

Lockdown

Valparaiso's 30.6 shooting percentage in Thursday's game was the lowest by a conference foe against the Trees this season.
