Samiyah Briggs and sophomore forward
Amerie Flowers were named 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees, the organization announced Tuesday.
Briggs, a 5-9 senior guard from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, carries a 3.91 cumulative GPA as a criminology and criminal justice major. She appeared in all 32 games this season for Indiana State while starting 31, averaging 8.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while playing a team-high 28.5 minutes per contest. Briggs led the Sycamores in starts (31), minutes (907) and minutes per game (28.3), setting career highs in all three. In addition, her 264 points, 119 rebounds, 54 assists and 27 steals were also her most in a season during her collegiate career. Briggs scored in double-figures in 12 games, had 13 games with five or more rebounds and nine with three or more assists. She scored a season-high 16 points against UIC while tallying season-best marks of eight rebounds and five assists against Valparaiso.
Flowers, a 6-2 forward from Willowbrook, Illinois, carries a 3.61 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. She appeared in 31 of Indiana State's 32 games this season, starting 24 and averaging 7.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Flowers ranked inside the top 15 in the conference in rebounds despite averaging just over 15 minutes per contest. She scored in double-figures 12 times this season while pulling down five or more rebounds on 17 occasions. Flowers' 27 points against Murray State were tied for the most by a Sycamore in a game this season, while her 15 rebounds against IU Indy were the most in a season opener in program history. She tallied three double-doubles for the season, including a 14-point, 14-rebound performance in Indiana State's win over Southern Illinois in the first round of the MVC Tournament.
The Sycamore duo became Indiana State's first Academic All-District selections since the 2023-24 season. To qualify for consideration on the Academic All-District Team, nominees must have a 3.50 GPA, both as an undergraduate and graduate student, while being at least a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing. Eligible nominees must compete in at least 75 percent of games or start in at least 50 percent of games.
