INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State women's golf is set for the second tournament of the fall slate, playing at the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis on Sept. 29-30.
The Sycamores pick up over the next four weeks with three tournaments, after about a two-and-a-half week break from the Redbird Invitational earlier this month. The Butler Fall Invitational is being held at the Highland Golf Club, a par-70 course ranging 6,040 yards. The format for the tournament is a total of 54 holes, with 36 being played on Monday. Start time for both days is 9 a.m. ET
Indiana State is part of 14 teams playing in the tournament, including UIC and Belmont. The Sycamores will get a small first-hand glimpse at a fraction of the league, as they are paired with UIC for the duration of the tournament.
Indiana State is rolling out a lineup of five golfers in the weekend:
Sophia Florek,
Gabby Cone,
Yang Tai,
Alana Gilbert, and
Keira Brazeau. This marks the first time Florek will enter a tournament as the No. 1 in her Sycamore career, as well as marking the first time Cone will play inside the top three for head coach
Greg Towne.
In the fall opener, Florek led the Sycamores placing 23rd of 90-plus golfers with a 227 (73-76-79). It was her lowest score in a three-round tournament in her career. Gilbert finished only six shots behind Florek playing as an individual, tying for third in the field on par-3s.
