TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State continues its road swing on Sunday, Aug. 24, when the Sycamores travel to Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET with live coverage available on ESPN+ and live stats through GoSycamores.com.
The Sycamores enter the contest with a 1-2-0 record following a high-scoring match at Chattanooga on Thursday night. ISU struck first in the 13th minute when Alex Lehnert found the back of the net off an assist from Tori Angelo. Chattanooga responded with a surge before halftime, netting goals in the 29th, 35th, 37th, and 40th minutes to take a 4–1 lead into the break. ISU battled back in the second half, as Brooklyn Woods capitalized on a rebound after her penalty attempt was initially saved in the 59th minute, and Lehnert added her second of the night in the 75th to cut the deficit to 4–3. The Mocs, however, secured the result with a late goal in the 84th minute to finish off a 5–3 victory. ISU totaled ten shots and five on target. Delaney Timmons made three saves for the Sycamores in goal. The Sycamores will look to build on that offensive production as they continue their opening road stretch.
Middle Tennessee enters the match unbeaten at 3-0-0 with wins over Belmont, Jackson State, and Alabama A&M. The Blue Raiders have not conceded a goal since opening day and feature a balanced attack. The matchup offers ISU a valuable test against an MT squad that has shown both defensive strength and attacking depth early in the season.
Sunday's contest will be the first-ever meeting between ISU and MT in women's soccer.
