NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State earned a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Illinois State on Sunday afternoon, collecting a valuable road point against one of the Missouri Valley Conference's top teams.

The Sycamores matched the Redbirds throughout the afternoon, creating quality scoring opportunities, defending with discipline, and becoming one of the few teams to break through against Illinois State's stout defense in conference play.

Indiana State established itself offensively from the opening minutes. Avery Oergel forced a save with an early shot on goal, while Meagyn Riffle and Tori Angelo generated additional opportunities as the Sycamores settled into the match. Midway through the first half, Indiana State put together one of its strongest attacking stretches, earning three consecutive corner kicks and forcing multiple saves from the Illinois State goalkeeper. Angelo, Madison Ziebarth, and Riffle all tested the Redbirds' defense as the Sycamores carried the momentum into halftime.

The Sycamores continued to dictate play after the break. Sofie Hansen came up with a key save early in the second half, and Indiana State turned that defensive stand into offensive momentum moments later. In the 63rd minute, Quinn Urquhart found Madison Ziebarth, who delivered a right-footed strike into the top center of the net to give Indiana State a 1–0 lead. The goal capped another strong stretch of pressure and rewarded the Sycamores' persistence throughout the afternoon.

Illinois State found an equalizer late in the match, but Indiana State continued to battle until the final whistle.
