TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State outfielder
Carlos Pena has signed a free agent deal with the Pioneer Baseball League's Windy City ThunderBolts and has made his debut joining a cadre of Sycamore alums who have gone on to play professional following their time in the Blue & White.
Pena made his Windy City debut on August 14 against Joliet and homered in game two against Gateway. He added three runs scored and an RBI on August 16 to start his post-Indiana State career strong.
Pena wrapped up his Indiana State career earning Missouri Valley First Team All-Conference honors at first base after posting a .327 batting average with a team-high 29 extra-base hits over the 2025 season. Pena was listed among the MVC leaders in a multitude of offensive statistical categories including slugging percentage (.624), on-base percentage (.444), and home runs.
The Bayside, N.Y. native was a constant threat inside the batter's box recording 22 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI contests, while adding a season-high 10-game hitting streak spanning April 1-17, and a 31-game on-base streak that ran from late February into the end of April. He highlighted his season with a trio of multi-homer games coming against Belmont (Apr. 6), Illinois (Apr.22), and Southern Illinois (Apr. 12).
Pena wrapped up his time at Indiana State played in 61 games with 57 career starts spanning the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He recorded 15 home runs, 14 doubles, and two triples, while adding 44 runs scored and 50 RBIs. He was also adept on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
