Sycamores boast league-leading 29 student-athletes represented on MVC Board of Directors Academic Excellence Award

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Athletics boasted a Missouri Valley Conference-leading 29 student-athletes on the MVC Board of Directors Academic Excellence Award highlighting 212 Sycamores honored on the conference's academic Honor Roll as announced on Tuesday evening.
 
Baseball's Carson Seeman, Nick Sutherlin, and Jackson Taylor, men's cross country/track & field's Elias Foor, Ian Gadberry, Layton Hall, Tahj Johnson, Elijah McCauley, Wyatt Puff, Will Staggs, women's golf's Yang Tai, women's soccer's Maddie Alexander, Emma Elliott, Emma Famulak, Ella Gorrie, Nora Henderson, Alexa Mackey, Caitlin Mullen, Grace Quinn, and Chloe Tesny, softball's Hailey Griffin, women's swimming & diving's Trista Bullock, Chloe Farro, Ali Pearson, and Alexa Szadorski, women's cross country/track & field's Cami Farmer, Chloe Rolen, and Sara Skaff, and volleyball's Emma Kaelin, were all honored with the Board of Directors Academic Excellence Award, the highest academic honor given by the MVC. The award is granted to student-athletes who have posted a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average, participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and sitting within 18 hours of graduation (by the end of the spring 2024 semester).
 
The 29 student-athletes were among the 212 Indiana State representatives on the MVC Honor Roll for their work in the classroom over the 2024-25 academic year. Additionally, 162 student-athletes received the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award requiring a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for each of the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.  More than 1,000 student-athletes earned the award, top by Belmont and Indiana State – each with 136 honorees.
 
The 212 Indiana State student-athletes were among the more than 2,000 MVC student-athletes received Honor Roll recognition.  For the MVC Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2024/Spring 2025), must have been a member of an athletics team, and must have been enrolled full time during the term they earned the honor.
