ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Thirteen members of the Indiana State swimming and diving program were recognized on the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team as honored by the conference office late last week.
The 13 members of the Sycamores squad featured both
Claire Parsons and
Ali Pearson boasting 4.00 GPAs, while 11 athletes overall have at least a 3.8 GPA or higher.
The Missouri Valley Conference had 113 student-athletes on the scholar-athlete team this season for swimming and diving. In the 2024-25 season, 26 of these scholar-athletes had a perfect 4.00 GPA. During the 2025 Swimming and Diving Championships, the league recognized Northern Iowa's Faith Larsen and Southern Illinois's Alex Cimera as the Elite 18 Award winner.
Scholar-Athlete honors require athletes to have competed in the MVC Swimming and Diving Championships and maintain either a 3.5 grade-point average and obtain all-conference honors, achieve a 3.7 grade-point average and top 24 finish in individual event at championships, or maintain a 3.9 grade-point average and participate in the MVC championship (including non-scorers).

The Sycamores won the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championships scoring a program-record 1,440.5 points in claiming the first MVC Championship in program history. The Sycamores trailed by 10 points heading into the conference final day, but strong performances in all events, including five individual event winners and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay title guided the Sycamores to the 109.5-point win over Southern Illinois (1331) to take the team title. Twelve Sycamores were honored on the MVC All-Conference First Team, while four additional athletes earned Honorable Mention.
The Sycamores continued their postseason success this spring as Indiana State posted its highest finish in program history at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)'s National Invitational Championship. Indiana State finished ninth overall at the CSCAA NIC accumulating 334 points. A program-record 14 Sycamores finished inside the Top 20, advancing to either the A-Final or B-Finals over the three days including Top Five finishes in the 1000 Free (
Erin Cummins), 1650 Free (
Claire Parsons), and 400 Free Relay.
Overall, 21 new Indiana State standards were set or broken multiple times over the course of the 2025 season as the Sycamores rewrote the record book once again. There were 73 new entries into Indiana State's Top 10 All-Time Performance Lists over the course of the season.
