Pearson, Parsons make Indiana State history on first day of 2025 CSCAA NIC

OCALA, Fla. – Ali Pearson broke the Indiana State school record in the 50-yard Breaststroke twice, and she and Claire Parsons both made the A-Finals in their respective events to highlight the Sycamores' first day in the pool at the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational Championships.
 
Pearson set the school mark in the 50-yard Breaststroke in the Thursday morning prelims, and then took another tenth of a second off the mark in the evening's A-Finals to set the tone early for Indiana State in their first day at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center.
 
Parsons was the first Sycamore to qualify for the A-Finals in program history after finishing eighth overall in the morning's 500-yard Freestyle preliminary rounds. Pearson became the second two events later as the senior finished sixth overall in the prelims in the 50-yard Breaststroke. Both athletes finished eighth overall in their event finals.
 
Thursday Evening Finals
Indiana State swimming and diving continued to have a strong performance in the pool on Thursday evening as the Sycamores set the tone early setting the program's best overall finish in an event in school history at the CSCAA's in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.
 
The team of Chloe Farro, Kaleigh Kelley, Raine Boles, and Alexa Szadorski finished in 1:31.81 to place fourth overall in the field, marking Indiana State's best overall finish in an event to date at the CSCAAs. The Sycamores finished .02 behind Florida International (1:31.79) for the third-place spot in the 34-team field.
 
Claire Parsons shaved time off her 500-yard prelim qualifying mark in the A-Finals of the event on Thursday evening. The sophomore touched the wall in 4:49.22 to place eighth overall in the field.
 
Ali Pearson built off her morning session where the senior set the Indiana State mark in the 50-yard Breaststroke. Pearson eclipsed that mark once again in the evening's A-Finals as the Normal, Ill. native touched the wall in 28.26 to set another Sycamore standard in placing eighth overall in the field.
 
The Sycamores capped the evening finishing 11th overall in the 400-yard Medley Relay finals. The team of Sahara Visscher, Pearson, Boles, and Farro touched the wall in 3:42.51 to place just outside the top 10 in the event to wrap up the final event of the first day.

Thursday Morning Prelims
Two Indiana State swimmers qualified for A-Finals to highlight Indiana State's morning session in the pool at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training center. Claire Parsons (500 Free) and Ali Pearson (50 Breast) both advanced to the A-Finals marking the first time in program history a Sycamore qualified inside the Top 10 in an individual event at the CSCAA NIC.
 
Parsons finished eighth overall in the 500-yard Freestyle to claim Indiana State's first-ever A-Final position as the sophomore touched the wall in 4:49.25. Pearson was sixth in her heat of the 50-yard Breaststroke, setting a new Indiana State record in the process, on her way to touching the wall in 28.36.
 
Sahara Visscher opened the Sycamores' action in the pool to start the day as the freshman finished 32nd overall in the 50-yard Backstroke. She touched the wall in 26.12 as the lone Indiana State swimmer in the event.
 
Parsons headlined the Sycamores in the 500-yard Freestyle leading three Indiana State swimmers in the event. Erin Cummins was 24th in the field in 4:54.74, while Maria Saldana Riebeling finished 32nd in 4:57.01.
 
Two more Sycamores took on the field in the 50-yard Fly prelims with Raine Boles (23rd) and Kaleigh Kelley (32nd) finishing in 24.81 and 25.11 respectively.
 
Alexandria Cotter and Gemma Dilks were the Sycamores in the 200-yard IM field in the morning. Cotter finished 35th in 2:04.57 with Dilks one spot back in 2:04.58.
 
Pearson went out fast in setting a new Indiana State record in the 50-yard Breaststroke. The senior touched the wall in 28.36, breaking her previous mark of 28.64 set last year at the CSCAA NIC to finish sixth in the field. Alexa Szadorski was 33rd overall in 29.19.
 
Four Sycamores took on the field in the 50-yard Freestyle to wrap up the individual events in the morning. Chloe Farro led the way finishing 25th in 23.38, while Szadorski (23.52) finished 33rd in the field. Kelley (23.69) and Boles (24.00) rounded out the athletes in the field.
