Parsons claims two wins, Sycamores split with Vanderbilt and Illinois to close out weekend meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State claimed the meet win over Vanderbilt for the second consecutive season and Claire Parsons swept both the 1000-yard and 200-yard Freestyle events to highlight Saturday morning's session as the Sycamores closed out the double dual meet against Illinois and the Commodores at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
 
The Sycamores topped Vanderbilt, 260-87, to claim their second win over the Commodores in as many seasons, after topping VU last season in Champaign, 194-135. Indiana State fell to Illinois over the two-day meet by a score of 215-138 in their first home meet of the season.
 
"I was really pleased with how we competed this weekend against two Power 4 opponents," head coach Josh Christensen said. "We had a lot of people made some big progress from our first two competitions, which was our goal for the weekend. Looking forward, we're excited to get a little rest and suit up for the first time at the Miami Invite."
 
Claire Parsons picked up her second and third individual wins of the weekend on Saturday to pace the Sycamores in the field, while Grace Cummings (1000 Free), Ali Pearson (200 Breast), Raine Boles (50 Free), and Sophia Diaz (100 Fly) added second-place finishes to close out their third competition of the 2025-26 season.
 
The Sycamores opened the competition with the 200-yard Medley Relay as Sara Keefe, Pearson, Boles, and Erin Cummins finished second overall in the field with a time of 1:43.74. The group of Sahara Visscher, Jenna Nave, Allie Barasch, and Rachel Stutz finished fifth in 1:46.61, while Kate Reeves, Peyton Heagy, Raz Harel, and Ash Saple placed ninth in 1:50.61.
 
Parsons pulled away from the field in the 1000-yard Freestyle event as the junior claimed her second win of the weekend after posting a time of 10:04.28. Grace Cummings nearly kept pace with her teammate as the freshman finished second in 10:17.37. Maria Saldana Riebeling finished fourth overall in 10:25.66, while Haley Halsall rounded out the group in 10:33.14.
 
Boles led three Sycamores inside the top five in the 50-yard Freestyle as the senior touched the wallin24.39 to place second. Kalli Agapios was third in the field in 24.41, while Saple placed fifth in 24.57. Allie Barasch was ninth overall in 24.71 to record the top 10 finish, with Stutz (24.89) and Rebecca Shaffer (25.71) also taking on the field.
 
Keefe continued to pace Indiana State's backstroke efforts this season as the freshman finished fourth in the 100-yard Backstroke event in 57.79. Visscher was seventh in 58.79, while Anna Asplund (58.99) and Kate Reeves (59.15) added top 10 finishes. Ella Moustgaard (59.66) and Elle Santucci (1:00.70) rounded out the group.
 
Pearson was the top Sycamore in the 200-yard Breaststroke as the graduate student finished second overall in 2:20.08. Nave was sixth overall in 2:23.98, while Kiarra Thomas rounded out the group in 2:31.69.
 
Parsons picked up her second win of the day and third of the weekend as the junior topped the field in the 200-yard Freestyle. The Terre Haute, Ind. native touched the wall in 1:51.88 to lead four Sycamores inside the top 10 in the field. Cummins was third overall in 1:52.13, while Heagy was fifth in 1:53.98. Dilks added to the Sycamores' run placing seventh in 1:54.38.
 
Diaz paced the Sycamores in the 100-yard Fly as the senior finished second overall in the event after going 56.82. She held off teammates Boles (56.84) and Johnson (57.49) as Indiana State placed three inside the top five, while Harel (59.20), Barasch (59.49), and Shaffer (1:01.90) all finished inside the top 15.
 
Dilks was Indiana State's top finisher in the 400-yard IM with the sophomore finishing fourth in 4:31.15. Saldana Riebeling was sixth in 4:33.33, while Halsall was eighth in 4:35.26. Santucci (4:38.78), Cummings (4:42.56), and Moustgaard (4:44.30) rounded out the Indiana Sate athletes in the field.
 
The Sycamores closed out the weekend in the swimming events with the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, with the group of Johnson, Cummins, Visscher, and Parsons placing second in 3:28.61. The second quartet of Heagy, Stutz, Pearson, and Agapios finished third in 3:32.63, while Asplund, Nave, Diaz, and Saple placed seventh in 3:37.71. The final grouping of Keefe, Reeves, Harel, and Thomas placed ninth in 3:41.03.
 
Three Sycamore divers took on the field in the 1M Diving event with Jecza Lopez pacing Indiana State with a fourth-place finish in 259.42. Bree Cleary was fifth in 242.62, while Brenna Woodruff was sixth in 229.05.
