TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State football's Rashad Rochelle was named this week's Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the athletic department Monday afternoon.
 
Rochelle tallied 179 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns (two receiving, one return) as the Sycamores upset No. 4/5 South Dakota State on the road, 24-12.
 
Rochelle returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to open the game against South Dakota State, and then added four receptions for 84 yards and two more scores as the Sycamores topped the Jackrabbits for their first win over a top-five team since 2012. 
 
Rochelle's kickoff return for a score marked Indiana State's first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2014 and the longest since the end of the 2006 season, in sparking Indiana State to the upset win over the Jackrabbits.
 
With SDSU rallying in the second half, Rochelle hauled in touchdown receptions of 17 and 57 yards to put the game away in Brookings, marking the first multi-receiving touchdown effort of his Indiana State career.
 
The Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every week throughout the 2025-26 athletic season.
