EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Five Indiana State cross country athletes recorded top-20 finishes Friday at the MVC Cross Country Championships, as the Sycamores earned runner-up honors on the women's side for the second straight year. Indiana State placed seventh on the men's side.
Brittney Burak had the top result for the Trees, with her eighth-place finish earning her All-MVC honors.
Peyton Smith earned Honorable Mention All-MVC accolades by placing 14th, with
Sawyer DeWitt (17th) and
Halle Miller (20th) also recording top-20 finishes.
Ryan York earned a top-20 finish for the Blue and White on the men's side.
Burak's top-10 finish came courtesy of a 6k time of 21:13.7, with Smith coming in behind her at 21:28.1. DeWitt and Miller ran times of 21:38.6 and 21:41.2, respectively, with
Hadley Gradolf rounding out the Trees' scorers in 28th with a time of 21:58.3.
Gnister Grant and
Eve Schurr ran times of 22:28.6 and 22:34.7, respectively, to close out the Sycamores' top seven, with
Emma Gresham (22:44.1) and
Alli Steffey (22:56.3) rounding out the lineup for the Blue and White.
York clocked a time of 25:12.9 to place 20th on the men's side for the Sycamores.
Mason Nobles ran a time of 25:25.3 to place in the top 30, with
Emerson Fayman (25:31.4),
Brandon Mueller (25:43.7) and
Ryan Handy (25:45.2) rounding out the scoring for the Trees.
Chris Angeles and
Parker Mimbela closed out the top seven for the Sycamores with times of 26:16.6 and 26:28.7, respectively.
Jcim Grant (26:34.8) and
Jocqael Thorpe (27:25.7) rounded out the Sycamore lineup.
Bradley swept the men's and women's team titles for the third time in the last four seasons. The Braves' Jayde Rosslee and Kaitlyn Sheppard were the men's and women's individual champions.
