NEW ORLEANS – Indiana State's cross country teams were recognized for their success on the course and in the classroom, as the Sycamore men's and women's teams were both named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams by the organization.
The Sycamore men received the honor after posting a 3.26 cumulative team GPA through the fall 2025 semester, while Indiana State's women's team was recognized for its 3.78 cumulative team GPA through the fall 2025 semester. Indiana State's women's cross country team finished with a top-25 team GPA for the 2025 season.
This season's honors marked the 15th time in the last 16 years that Indiana State cross country picked up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolades on the women's side, while the Sycamore men's cross country team has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors 13 times in the last 16 seasons announcement. Indiana State has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for men's and women's cross country in each of head cross country coach
Brad Butler's five seasons at the helm.
In order to earn All-Academic Team honors, teams must have had a cumulative team GPA at the end of the most recent semester/quarter of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and competed in the NCAA Regional Championships.
The academic awards add to a season which saw Indiana State finish as runner-up on the women's side at the MVC Championships for a second straight year while also earning a top-10 finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
Brittney Burak was an all-conference selection, while
Peyton Smith earned honorable mention all-conference accolades. Six Sycamores – Burak, Smith and
Emma Gresham on the women's side, and
Ryan Handy,
Brandon Mueller and
Ryan York on the men's side – were named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
