Box Score Cape Girardeau, Mo.- Indiana State (4-1-0) picked up their fourth win of the 2024 season on Sunday afternoon where they defeated Southeast Missouri State (0-3-0) with a score of 3-0. Mackenzie Kent led the way for the Sycamores, when she scored two goals in the victory.
Indiana State outshot Southeast Missouri State 16-9 and held the 10-4 edge in corner kicks.
How it happened:
The Sycamores pressed the advantage early in the contest and maintained control over the ball in the first half as Audrey Stephens posted ISU's first shot on target. Stephens posted a shot ten minutes into the contest where Madison Geisler picked up her first save of the game for the Redhawks.
Indiana State continued to attack early as Emma Famulak added the Sycamores second shot at the 13:47 mark, while Alexa Mackey, Alex Lehnert, Autumn Fairfax, Brooklyn Woods, and Nora Henderson fired toward the net in the back-and forth first half where ISU had nine shot attempts, with six on goal, and two goals scored.
The Sycamores took the lead 30 minutes into the contest when Autumn Fairfax picked up Brooklyn Woods corner kick, and placed the ball into the bottom left of the goal to pick up her first goal of the 2024 season and give Indiana State the 1-0 lead.
Indiana State picked up a second goal right before half when Alexa Mackey was able to place the ball through a line of defenders, to Mackenzie Kent who found the back of the net for the third consecutive game of the 2024 season.
SEMO took their first chance in the seventh minute with Emily Baker's shot on target as the Redhawks posted four shots in the opening 45 minutes with ISU's Maddie Alexander recording a pair of early saves.
Indiana State continued to build their lead in the second half when Mackenzie Kent picked up her second goal of the day in the 52nd minute of the contest to extend the ISU lead to 3-0 over the Redhawks, with an assist by Alex Lehnert.
The Sycamores ended Sunday afternoons victory with ten shots on goal by Alexa Mackey, Brooklyn Woods, Mackenzie Kent, Autumn Fairfax each with two, while Alex Lehnert and Audrey Stephens also recorded shots on target in the 3-0 win over SEMO.
Maddie Alexander ended the contest with five saves for Indiana State, in 90 minutes between the pipes. Alexander now has 27 saves in the 2024 season, with four shutouts.

- Sundays matchup was the first meeting of these two teams since the 2009 season, as the Sycamores pick up their first ever win over the Redhawks.
- Freshman Alex Lehnert made her first collegiate start in Sunday afternoon's matchup against the Redhawks.
- Autumn Fairfax picked up her first goal of the 2024 season in the 2-0 win.
- Mackenzie Kent led the way for ISU in the victory, where she picked up two goals for the Sycamores, which marks her third consecutive game with a goal scored.
