ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State sophomore goalkeeper Sofie Hansen has been named Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after a standout performance in the Sycamores' 1-1 road draw at Murray State.
Hansen played all 90 minutes and recorded a season-high seven saves, helping Indiana State earn a valuable point in MVC play. Facing constant pressure from the Racers, the senior goalkeeper posted a .875 save percentage and repeatedly came up with crucial stops to keep the Sycamores within striking distance throughout the match.
Murray State generated 15 shots and eight shots on goal, but Hansen was up to the challenge, turning away seven attempts and anchoring Indiana State's defensive effort. Her performance marked the highest save total by a Sycamore goalkeeper in conference play this season and preserved Indiana State's unbeaten stretch as the regular season approaches its final week.
The honor marks Hansen's first MVC Goalkeeper of the Week selection of the season and adds to an impressive campaign in which she has been one of the conference's most reliable presences between the posts. Through 15 appearances, Hansen has recorded 44 saves and five shutouts while helping lead the Sycamores to a strong conference standing.
Hansen becomes the latest Sycamore to receive MVC weekly recognition as Indiana State continues its push toward the conference tournament.
