TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State controlled much of the action on Sunday afternoon, outshooting Belmont and earning twice as many corner kicks, but ultimately fell 1–0 to the Bruins at Memorial Stadium. Despite the result, the Sycamores continued to show the defensive organization and competitive spirit that have defined their conference campaign, limiting Belmont to just four shots while creating several quality opportunities of their own.
After Belmont found an early breakthrough in the eighth minute, Indiana State settled into the match and began to create consistent pressure. Meagyn Riffle registered one of the Sycamores' first dangerous chances in the sixth minute, forcing a save from Belmont's goalkeeper. Indiana State continued to push throughout the opening half, earning back-to-back corner kicks and generating additional opportunities from Peyton Wetzel, Hailey Morgan, and Quinn Urquhart. The Sycamores nearly found an equalizer before halftime when Urquhart's shot on target was turned away in the 42nd minute.
Indiana State maintained that momentum after the break, controlling possession and keeping play in the attacking half for long stretches. The Sycamores earned four second-half corner kicks and continued to challenge the Belmont back line through Riffle, Urquhart, Kaylin Klutcharch, and Elise McDonald. Urquhart produced one of Indiana State's best chances of the afternoon in the 88th minute, placing a shot on target that required another save. Defensively, Sofie Hansen recorded three saves and helped limit Belmont's opportunities throughout the final 82 minutes of play. While the breakthrough never came, Indiana State's effort reflected a team that remained aggressive until the final whistle and never stopped searching for the equalizer.
