Wednesday will be the 187th meeting between the Sycamores and Purple Aces. Earlier this season, Indiana State defeated Evansville 87-73 with UE's current leading scorer, Ben Humrichous, out of the lineup. Indiana State is putting its five-game win streak against Evansville on the line, which dates back to the double overtime win on February 10, 2022.Â

Evansville is in their second season with Coach David Ragland at the helm. The Purple Aces currently sit 10th overall in the conference with a 6-12 record in MVC play. Ryan Conwell was the next leading scorer for the Trees with 18 points on 6-for-11 from the floor, also recording a double-double with 11 rebounds. Conwell chipped in three assists, two blocks, and a steal.Â
Jayson Kent brought in another solid effort with 16 points on 5-for-9 from the floor, securing eight rebounds and three steals.

Julian Larry recorded his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 assists, also grabbing five rebounds.Â

The University of Evansville men's basketball team held a 26-24 halftime lead, but an 11-0 run by Southern Illinois in the second half keyed a 65-53 win on Sunday at the Ford Center. Humrichous led the Purple Aces with 11 points and 7 rebounds while Antonio Thomas recorded 10 points on a 4-for-5 shooting effort. Tanner Cuff scored nine points. Troy D'Amico led SIU with 17 points.
Postseason Implications
With two games left in the regular season, Indiana State has its eyes on its first Missouri Valley regular season title since 2000. ISU holds that destiny in its own hands, needing to win Wednesday's game and Sunday's game to secure an outright regular season title.
